SENIOR LADIES
Pride of place this week goes to the Senior Ladies team who added the Bon Secours Junior B Championship to their collection of titles with a hard earned but deserved win over neighbours Kilcummin. And while scoring 3-3 in the second period would be the headline it was probably in the first half that they laid the foundation for the win with a solid defensive showing which meant they only trailed by three points at half time , having played against a very stiff breeze. Aine Devlin, Andrea Murphy , Lauren Carey and Orianne McGillycuddy were the goalscoring heroes but equally important were the intervention of a tight marking back line and the persistent promptings of Eve Coffey, Keri Ann Hanrahan and Kate Mc Carthy around the middle. And when they were breached Amy Walshe in the goal pulled off some crucial saves which kept the Kilcummin attack at bay. Orianne McGillycuddy scored straight from the throw in with Ciara Randles soon following it up. Kilcummin started to use the breeze to their favour and soon ran up 1-2 of their own. But crucially Aine Devlin replied almost instantly to halt that gallop. Despite kicking a further four points on the trot , a Kate McCarthy free meant there were only three points between the sides at half time. Keri Ann Hanrahan won the throw-in at the start of the second half and the ball was worked through to Andrea Murphy who made no mistake to wipe out the deficit in an instant. Half time substitute Lauren Carey found herself at the end of a well worked move and smashed home from ten yards to put her side in the driving seat. Kilcummin kept battling away and were always a threat but a combination of superb defending and smart point kicking meant the pendulum still swung in Legion's favour at 3-6 to 1-8. But it was never comfortable until Orianne McGillycuddy crashed home her side's fourth goal and with that went any chance of a Kilcummin revival. When referee Billy Lacey blew his last whistle the scoreboard read 4-6 to 1-9 in Legion favour. The crowning glory on a successful season now sees the team promoted and hopefully will be the first step on the climb of the ladder. Special mention to the management team of Ted Healy, John McCarthy and Orla Culloty who were at the wheel all year and can take buckets of credit for the teams performances. And while it would be easy to pinpoint some excellent individual display it was essentially a great all round display that carried the spoils.

U15 BOYS
Our U15A team qualified for the Division 1 East Kerry Championship Final after a good win in Spa against the hosts on Wednesday evening . In ideal conditions the first half was tight with Spa in a good defensive structure which the boys found difficult to break down. At half time we led by two points 1-5 to 0-6. A goal early in the second half put daylight between the teams and from there on the boys worked some tremendous scores running out comfortable winners in the end by 4-12 to 0-10. In the final we will face an excellent Firies side in what will be a repeat of the Division 1 County League Final from earlier in the year. The game is foxed for Kilcummin this Sunday October 13th.

U17 BOYS
The U17s qualified for the East Kerry Division 2 final with a well earned win over Glenflesk in a sunny Direen on Sunday morning.
Buoyed by the return from injury of a couple of our key players, and a very good performance against Rathmore in the the previous game, Legion entered the game in good spirits against a good Glenflesk / Kilgarvan side who beat Spa in the 1/4 final.
The game was tight in the first half.
Glenflesk opened the scoring and the teams traded scores until the visitors raised a green flag when Legion failed to clear a ball in the square. The returning Oisin Fleming.was looking sharp and converted a penalty when he was pulled down in the square. Jack Culloty, who was a handful throughout and Luke Courtney had goal chances but Legion failed to net and entered the break with a one point deficit.
Playing into the breeze on the second half, Legion upped their game and a couple of good goals by Eoin Murphy and Bryan Walshe gave Legion a lead entering the final quarter.
Glenflesk fought hard with Liam O'Brien and James Kelly a handful for Brian O'Connor and Ronan O Brien who had good games in the Legion defence. There was a bit of late drama when Glenflesk pointed late and there was some confusion over the score with all present having Legion ahead by a couple of points. Good points by Mark Looney and Cillian Murphy put the game beyond any doubt and Legion will play Cordal in the final in 2 weeks. Final score Killarney Legion 3-11 Glenflesk 1-13.

SATURDAY MORNING ACADEMY
Halving been rained off this weekend past the Saturday Morning Academy has an action packed day planned this coming weekend. Fossa will be bringing in their U7 boys, U7/8 girls and U10 girls for a series of Go Games. As this will be the gathering of the year our U11 boys and U10 girls will be graduating from the Academy . And to top it all we will be holding a bake sale, all in aid of the Dillion Quirke Foundation. Dillion collapsed and died on the field of play during a hurling match in Semple Stadium in August 2022. The foundation was subsequently set up by his family with the aim of funding widespread cardiac screening for young people (aged 12-18) involved in sport.
