KILLARNEY LEGION GAA GOLF CLASSIC

When Sean Daly constructed his team for the Killarney Legion GAA Golf Classic he certainly put all the right tools in the bag as teammates Dan Doona and Johnny Brosnan made sure the trio dovetailed to perfection to carry the spoils. Their 95 point haul on a mild day in the famed O Mahony Point course made them clear winners over the Ted Healy inspired team consisting of Kieran Cremin and David Marmian. They were chased home all the way by Con Healy, James McCarthy and the irrepressible Patie Sugrue, representing the Legion legends of Johnny Culloty and Pat Healy. Declan Kelly’s driver was in full working order as he creamed the longest drive down the 11th and in the process finished fourth alongside Adrian Brennan and Brian Hayles. Golfer supreme Seamie O Connor won nearest the pin with his excellent pitch to one of the world’s trickiest Par 3s , the 18th.

The Club would like to thank most sincerely everyone who took part in the Golf Classic , sponsored a team or a tee box and bought tickets in the raffle. We are also very grateful to Patrick O’Donoghue and the GlenEagle Hotel group for their generous sponsorship of the Classic. Special thanks to Enda Murphy and his greenkeeping team who had the course in immaculate shape as per usual, with yesterday’s rain giving it an extra pristine feel. Finally this event would not be the success it was, close to 50 teams took part, without the work of our guru Sean Murphy who cajoles and coordinates the Classic, working tirelessly, along with the help of the Finance Committee of Shaun O Connor, Dave Randles , Liam McGuire, John Bowler, Shaun O Connor, Justin Healy and John Foran.

The raffle was also well supported and Legion Hall of Famer Dan Moynihan bought the lucky ticket to win first prize with Tim Healy, Leo O Kane and Noel Fleming also in luck.
