Dingle 1-10 Killarney Legion 0-5
The final round of the new club championship format saw the seniors travel to Dingle to see if they could make it three in a row wins in Párc an Aghasaigh. It was not to be however as the hosts ran out comfortable winners in the end.Dingle made full use of the strong wind at their backs in the first half as they went in at the break with a healthy 1- 6 to a single point lead. While the Legion had their fair share of ball but could not manoeuvre themselves into scoring positions – a problem throughout. With the advantage of a stiff breeze at their backs it was hoped that they could chip away at the deficit but again they could not threaten the Dingle goal and the supply of ball into the forwards was fragmented and often times misplaced.A tendency to move the ball laterally slowed the attacks down thus giving the Dingle backs time to re-set.The Legion defence did reasonably well with Cian Gammell,Damien O Sullivan and Danny Sheahan all doing well but the lack of scoring threat is definitely an issue going forward.
Killarney Legion 5-6 Listowel Emmetts 1-6
The sticky underfoot conditions and gusting wind didn’t dampen the senior ladies efforts in this game as they laid the foundation for a well deserved win in a determined first half display that saw them go to the relative comfort of the dressing room leading 3-3 to 0-5.Ironically the wind died substantially in the second half thus making the contest a battle of wills but once again playing a nice brand of team football a further 2-3 saw them carry the day 5-6 to 1-6.
Many thanks to those who supported our flag/church gate collection this past weekend.A word of thanks also to all those club members who gave of their time.
