Killarney Legion 0-18 West Kerry 1-18 (after extra time)
Poor result, poor game and a poor performance from the Legion. After a bright opening which saw them race into a three point lead that was as good as it got for the seniors. When one compares this to the high tempo, creative focussed aggressive display away to Dingle in the Club Championship it’s hard to believe it was the same side.Littered with basic errors the amount of ball that was lost in the tackle or badly kicked ran well into double digits.West Kerry played a simple enough game realising that all they really had to do was engage in contact strip the ball and make progress in a direct fashion despite this it was a constant feature of the Legion’s play right to the end. They were also aided by a real lack of intensity by the Legion which led to any real cutting edge and eventually West Kerry ground out the win they deserved for perseverance.
A very successful weekend for some of our members in the Kingdom Jersey.Huge congrats to Sarah Leahy who,in her debut season, was part of the Kerry Ladies team who annexed the Munster Senior Championship with a sweeping finish in Mallow.Trailing towards the end of the game they stunned Waterford to lift the cup and we wish them well in the forthcomingAll Ireland series.
Cian O Leary,Eoghan O SullIvan, Niall McGillycuddy and Ryan O Grady were successful with the Kerry South U15 squad while Darragh Lyne,Kiran O Donoghue and Peter O Sullivan werewith the victorious U16 panel.William Shine was a member of the U14 squad as well.
