Senior and Young Ladies Players of the Year

SENIOR LADIES PLAYER OF THE YEAR

The 2022 Senior Ladies Player of the Year is Isabelle Corridan. Isabelle has been part of the club since her early years in the Saturday Morning Academy and when she was too old to participate in the Academy she came back to help out with the coaching. She made her senior team debut at the grand old age of 14. Despite the usual distractions of school, work and college her commitment to the club never waned. To further emphasise that point this is her second time receiving the coveted award, having been honoured in 2015 initially. A versatile performer who has played in midfield and the forwards she found herself stationed at full back this year. And even though she is now based in Dublin where she is a physiotherapist , she trained with the famed Killmacud Crokes in an effort to keep herself in shape for the Ladies senior team. She willingly clocked up plenty of miles this year past , in a true sign of her dedication to the Club she loves.

YOUNG LADIES PLAYER OF THE YEAR

Since joining the club at the age of five Andrea Murphy has become a very popular and integral member of the Killarney Legion Ladies department. From an early age she showed a great willingness to train and take in all the promptings of her coaches. Even at that early stage she was providing great leadership to her teammates. The daughter of Enda and Dawn, she represented the club at intercounty level at U14 and U16 and so the ascension to the club senior team was only a matter of time and the call up came in 2022. Her personality and character endeared  her straight away to the rest of the panel and she nailed down her place at wing back on the team. Despite suffering a dislocated shoulder ( as she only found out afterwards) she soldiered on in a vital Donal Curtin Cup against MKL Gaels and helped the team gain a hard earned win. This year she is again a member of a Kerry panel, the Minors, and there’s no doubt her late grandfather, club stalwart Jimmy Murphy, is looking down with joy from above.
