YOUNG JUNIOR PLAYER OF THE YEAR
It was the unanimous choice of the Senior B Management that Callum O Donoghue would be the inaugural recipient of the Young Junior Footballer of the Year Award.
Callums memories of the Club are when his Nan first brought him to the Academy when he was six years old. He continued to play at all age groups with the club winning East Kerry and County medals. He said that Alan and Donal were inspirational coaches and Darragh Fleming and William Shine were the players he looked up to most.
Callums best memorable game with the club was not winning East Kerry and County titles but a victory over local rivals Dr Crokes at U16 level. He sights making his Senior B debut in 2022 and his Senior debut this year as being very special to him.
The Senior B team had a very successful 2022 and Callum played a huge part in that success. He’s a versatile player with great commitment, strong and dependable, and has been the go-to player when a job needed to be done. The Senior B management are delighted that he is receiving this award and there’s no doubt that he will be a constant with the senior teams in years to come.
JUNIOR PLAYER OF THE YEAR
A skillful and pacey forward in his juvenile days Alan Moriarty has actually made his name on the Senior B team in the back line. With the modern game based on pace and quick ball he has taken to his new position like a duck to water.Breaking up opposition attacks and then counter attacking himself at pace Alan has became a forwards nightmare. He produced a string of fine performances as the Senior B competed in 4 competitions in 2022.
His performances aside,Alan also showed a great commitment to the management team he never failed to get off work for a game.
One game in particular stands out .His performance against Castleisland Desmonds in Currow in the Division 6 final was the difference between victory and defeat while Alan again was instrumental in the McElligott Cup win over Fossa in Kilcummin.
Coming from a family who has served the club so well Alan is a worthy winner of the Junior Team Player of the Year. And in what is a great sign of his allegiance to the club it is his second time receiving the accolade, 2015 being the previous year.
