We’re still looking for our first League points after tonight’s third round clash with Gneeveguilla played in Direen. All was looking rosy in the garden until a fortuitous Gneeveguilla goal in the last quarter bred new life into their challenge and they finished the stronger team to eventually run out 1-10 to 1-7 winners. A low scoring affair the exchanges were tense and tight but all was going to plan in the opening quarter with James O Donoghue setting up Finbarr Murphy for an easy back post finish to add to a Jamie O Sullivan free as we led by four after 13 minutes. Thomas Moriarty exchanged points with Padraig Doyle who added another to leave three points between the sides. A flashpoint in the 22 minutes saw both teams reduced to 14 men, crucially James O Donoghue seeing red for Legion and Paul O Leary for Gneeveguilla. Sam Benson popped over a lovely point and Buckley replied for Gneeveguilla to leave the half time score at 1-3 to 0-3.
