Cian heads to Croker

The very best of luck to Cian Gammell in this weekends All Ireland Minor Football final vs Derry in Croke Park.Cian has cemented his place in the team throughout the campaign. It would cap off a marvellous 18 months for Cian having already won 2 Hogan Cup titles with St Brendans College and also being involved in last year’s All Ireland minor winning panel.Club member Chris Flannery is the teams physical trainer and no doubt he will have the team in prime physical condition. And not forgetting team manager Peter Keane who has yet to lose a game in his role.
Here’s hoping the record holds for another day.

On Friday October 13th we are holding our Annual Golf Classic in the superb Killarney Golf and Fishing Club.Sean Murphy is the supremo behind our biggest fundraiser and he is currently busy finalising details for the big day.
The following Friday ,October 20th,we will be holding our now Annual Mass.Last years was a great celebration with young and old all present. There’s more to a club than the on field activities and it provides members with an opportunity to mix afterwards with tea, coffee and light refreshments served afterwards.Every member is welcome.

Our U13 boys had a busy week competing in the East Kerry League and also participating in the prestigious Lee Strand Invitational Tournament in Connolly Park. While results may not have gone their way the performances were excellent and this age group affords players, who may not have played regularly at U14 level, valuable game time which can only aid their ongoing development.

Our 16 girls have qualified for the East Kerry League final after an excellent week in Direen. They took advantage of 2 home games vs Glenflesk and Laune Rangers to make it through to the decider and they now await the playing of some back game to find out their opponents.
Legion girls continued their East Kerry campaign last Sunday evening at home to Scartaglen. The game proved to be a very tight affair with scores hard to come by.
Legion gained an early advantage with a well taken goal but as the half progressed, both teams traded score for score before Scartaglen nicked in for a goal just before half time to go in ahead on a score of 1-4 to 1-3. The second half proved to be equally as tenacious with chances being missed at either end as well as cross bar and posts being hit. Legion appeared to be getting the upper hand as they grabbed a goal and went into a two point lead entering the final stages. However, Scartaglen rallied again and despite some fierce defending, Scartaglen scored a decisive goal with time almost up and followed it up with a point. In what was a very entertaining game, Scartaglen won on a score line of 2-10 to 2-7.
U14 girls also played a very entertaining and competitive game against Glenflesk midweek with which showed some excellent performances by some of the younger members of the panel in particular. Next up for u14 girls is an East Kerry game and a trip to Milltown/Listry on Sunday evening next.
The U12 girls had a tough battle vs Kilcummin before eventually going down by 2-8 to 0-7.They now continue the league on a round Robin format with games vs Kilcummin and Laune Rangers .
