SENIOR MENS
Our Senior Men made it 2 from 2 in the group stages of the Intermediate Club Championship with a more comfortable than expected win over Dromid Pearses on a humid afternoon in South Kerry. Displaying a hunger from the start they set about the task with gusto, especially in the first half and any thoughts Dromid had of a much needed win were dispelled quickly. With a comfortable half time lead the bench was utilised in the second half and it offered everyone a chance to show their wares ahead of the final group game against John Mitchels in Direen this Sunday August 21st at 2.30pm.
Final Score Killarney Legion 2-18 Dromid Pearses 0-7.

EAST KERRY U13 LEAGUE
The U13 Boys East Kerry League kicked off this past weekend where both our teams had a weekend off. Our Green team will operate in Division 1 while our White team is in Division 6. Our opposition in both divisions will be Keel/Listry and Firies and games will be played mainly on Sunday mornings.
LADIES UPDATE
The Minor Ladies faced MKL Gaels in the Division 4 County League Final in Pat Healy Park in Ballyrickard last Friday night. The Mid Kerry side won the first encounter in the league stages so the Ladies knew they would be in a battle. They started the game in determined fashion, completely dominating their opponents, holding them scoreless for 17 minutes but unfortunately they didn’t take enough of their chances. At half time the teams were level at 1-1 to 0-4 and in truth it wasn’t a fair reflection of the half. The start of the second half saw the biggest shift in power as MKL Gaels enjoyed their own period of supremacy and made it count, hitting four goals in a devastating eight minute spell. This really put the game out of our reach but to their credit the girls battled to the last whistle before losing out on 5-6 to 0-7 scoreline. A simple analysis of the game would suggest that you have to take your chances when in control and ultimately this would prove the big difference.
Team..1. Amy Walshe, 2. Ciara O Neill, 3. Ciara Doolan, 4. Beatrice Corridan, 5. Grace O Connor, 6. Eabha Stack, 7. Aisling Cahill, 8. Andrea Murphy, 9. Lucy Spellman, 10. Emma Horan, 11. The highly popular uneven age group Club Championships began this weekend.
Our U13 Girls faced Kilcummin in Direen on Sunday morning with a 10am start, a wise move considering the hot conditions. A real cracker of a game, the visitors made a fast start hitting the net twice early on. The rest of the game was very evenly matched but the early goals always seemed to be the cushion and so it panned out in the end. Final Score Kilcummin 4-8 Killarney Legion 4-3.
The U15 competition will take place on Tuesday August 16th and we will face Na Gaeil in Direen in the B Championship with a 7pm throw in.
The U17 Ladies are in the B Championship also and they will face Corca Dhuibhne in the next week. The competitions are straight knockout so it’s all on the day.
KERRY SOUTH U15
Kerry South met Cavan in the All Ireland Shield final last Saturday and two of our own, Killian Murphy and Oisin Fleming, started the game , which was won by Kerry South on a 3-10 to 2-6 scoreline. Another Legion man Bryan Walsh was introduced during the course of the game. Great experience for the three lads and congratulations to them as well.
ETHAN O'NEILL
Congratulations to Ethan who was a member of the Irish Junior Rowing team that took part in the Home Regatta International held recently in London. Competing in the 500m sprint event they claimed Gold and the Irish anthem was proudly belted out in London Docks. Ethan, whose father Brendan played for the club at all grades, was part of a very successful Legion group at Juvenile level and all at the club are very proud of his endeavours on the International stage. With age on his side we look forward to seeing Ethan line out again in the Green and White whilst not in the International vest.
DEEPEST SYMPATHIES
The Club extends its sympathies to the family of Margaret at this sad time.
The Slattery family have a long association with our Club, most notably with Joan married to the late great Weeshie Fogarty
May she Rest in Peace.
Also to the family of Patie Cullinane , Kilcummin. Paties nephew Timmy Doolan is a staunch club member as are his family, Tadgh, Darragh and Ciara.
ENGAGEMENT
Former and popular Senior player Kevin Beano Breen made his first trip home in three years since emigrating to Australia in 2019. And he made his visit worthwhile as he and his new fiance Grainne Favier, of Glenflesk stock, announced their engagement . Congratulations to Kevin and Grainne and we wish them well in their future plans.
