East Kerry Superleague Round 1
If you ever wanted to see how you stood, a meeting with Rathmore will always test your mettle. The 3 in a row O Donoghue Cup winners were first up in the East Kerry Superleague that was played in Direen.John Moynihan stole in for a goal and it took a while for our lads to settle to the task.A red card for Rathmores Cathal Murphy was the catalyst for some good points by Darragh O Doherty,Thomas Moriarty and Jamie O Sullivan. That preceded a Conor Culloty goal and the score had a manageable look about it at half time .Legion 1-4 Rathmore 1-9.
The second half quickly settled into a familiar pattern as Rathmore once again slipped in for a goal and that put the game to bed. However the lads battled away to the end with Jamie O Sulivan adding some nice points before Rathmore put a bit of gloss on the scoreline with a third goal. The game afforded the new manager Alan O Neill the opportunity to see the team in competitive action for the first time and he along with selectors Sean and Jamsie O Sullivan will have learned plenty. The Superleague will see good competitive games and all the squad can expect to figure in the coming weeks.

COACHES AND MENTORS NIGHT
On Thursday Febraury 23rd a meeting of coaches will take place in the Killarney Plaza Hotel. On the agenda will be a talk with Jimmy Mulligan of Jigsaw Kerry.Jigsaw Kerry aims to develop better social opportunities for young people and encourages them to be actively involved in promoting positive mental health. It also brings together community support for the mental health needs of 18-25 year olds. The club is constantly looking to support our members in any way and this is a very important issue in these modern times. Also Kerry minor team and club physio Katie O Driscoll will enlighten the group on the correct procedures to follow with anyone suffering a concussion.Again a lot more information is now available on this condition in the more recent past and it is of the utmost importance to player welfare. The night will conclude with a coaching forum between the group spearheaded by a leading coach in the county. As the saying goes “Knowledge is of no use until it is put into practice”
KERRY SENIORS
No joy for Kerry in their recent defeat to Mayo in the National Football League in Tralee. However it was most gratifying to see Conor Keane make a return to the county set up.He put in a solid 50 minutes as a replacement for the injured James O Donoghue.James should be ok for Kerrys next engagement vs Monaghan in Killarney on February 26th.The performances of Brian Kelly and Jonathan Lyne definitely did enough to merit inclusion for the Round 3 encounter.
