An exhausting but tremendously sasifying Féile tournment hosted between Louth and Co.Down saw our u14 boys go to the semi-final stage.Having beaten Ardee,St.Lawrences and Mattock Rangers/Hunterstown they faced a Dicksboro side that were tough and physical so much so that the team had to expend huge reserves of energy to win by 2 pts.Without doubt this match told as they went down to Manorhamilton in the semi-final in which they just ran out of steam.A great display none the less and in the process did themselves, their parents and the club proud.A tired but happy band made the long bus trip home from Clonduff Co.Down with their heads held high and memories for a lifetime.

Killarney Legion 4-11 Glenflesk 4-16 (after extra time)
A hugely entertaining final saw Glenflesk take the honours in a game that had a bit of everything. At one stage the Legion trailed by 8 pts.and were struggling to keep it at that, the concession of 3 goals in the opening half gave them a mountain to climb. To their credit they showed admirable resilience and persistance to drag themselves back into the contest.Fair to say that the main reason was the performance of Conor McCarthy at full forward who hit 3-2 and was unmarkable and Sean McCarthy was immense at midfield and his black card at the start of extra time had a huge effect on the Legion’s prospects.Adam Moynihan was creative on the ball and indeed his disguised free kick at the death to Stephen McCarthy wrong footed the Glenflesk defence and saw a neat finish to the net.An issue for the Legion was the supply of ball to the inside line was at times sporadic and with Micheál Devlin and Moynihan having to drift back to their own backline to gather – it left a corresponding gap in the half forward line, when these players managed to get forward there was always a threat. The effort to get back on terms certainly took it’s toll as Glenflesk dominated extra time and gradually pulled away to eventually earn the win and congratulations to them. The Legion lads gave their all and couldn’t give anymore on a ferociously hot night that sapped energy in a relentless way.Still a very fine showing by the juniors and all those involved.

Many thanks to Gneeveguilla G.A.A.for their invite to one of the best run events in Kerry G.A.A.and as usual it was organised to perfection with twelve clubs from East Kerry and Duhallow competing at u11.Established as a fitting memorial to a lovely young boy who was sports mad and who was so sadly taken at a tender age.The Legion u11’s had a great outing and eventually came home winners having beaten Kilcummin in the final, well done to one and all.

Rathmore 3-12 Killarney Legion1-17
The narrowest of margins and a winner with just seconds to go saw the seniors lose a game that they certainly should have taken something from. The performance all round lacked very little but the Achilles heel were a series of defensive errors that eventually turned the tide – in fact two second have goals came from slip ups.Despite this three times they came from a good distance back to level and even go ahead inspite of the set backs.Conor Keane kept up his fantastic goal scoring record with another top drawer finish and was always dangerous throughout.Padraig Lucey on the edge of the square had a huge influence and he was the perfect target man all night.Without doubt Jamie O Sullivan is one of the top two footed players in the county and he returned a total of 8 pts.while leading the attack at centre forward.A word of praise also for Conor McCarthy in goal who produced top drawer saves when faced with one on ones, and his kick outs hit their intended targets consistantly.Unfortunately Kevin Breen suffered a nasty ankle injury and we wish him a full and speedy recovery.

Congratulations to Cian Gammell who as part of the Kerry u20’s added the first ever u20 Munster Champions medal to his ever growing collection.
