The club was more than involved in the various Kerry teams over the weekend – indeed it’s doubtful if such a representation was seen before. We had James O Donoghue and Brian Kelly with the seniors,Cian Gammell with the u20’s,Darragh Lyne and Kieran O Donoghue with the minors,Sarah Leahy with the Kerry Ladies and for good measure Áine Devlin gracing the new revamped Páirc Uí Chaoimh with a goal as good as Stephen O Briens! A momentous weekend by any standards and well done to one and all.Congratulations also to Peter Keane who continued his impeccable record with the minors, and he must take great satisfaction from the performances of his past pupils in the senior squad.
The Killarney Legion GAA Club are delighted that main club and Senior team sponsor David Randles of Randles Brothers Nissan Dealers Tralee and Killarney has renewed his partnership with the Club. The new deal was launched at the Club grounds in Direen on a glorious sunny Sunday morning.Present at the launch were Club Chairman Fergal Moynihan,Club Sponsors Liason Officer Sean Murphy and the Senior team panel and management. Following Kerry’s 80th Munster Championship win the previous evening Brian Kelly and James O Donoghue were on hand to thank Dave Randles for his continued support of the Club. With the club always striving towards progress, finance is always an integral part of this drive and the Club is extremely fortunate to have such a generous patron in David who has signed up for another 3 years which will bring his association with the club to 6 years by 2020.The Senior team has also embarked on a fundraising drive with particular emphasis on the Club Lotto and the launch was also an opportunity for them to unveil their new training gear with the Randles Brothers logo emblazoned on it.As with all G.A.A. clubs we are reliant on the generosity of sponsors as well as members and in return for their largesse we should support those who support us.
Killarney Legion 4-3 Kilcummin 5-1
Always tough to take when you lose by the narrowest of margins but it has added sting when its a goal right at the death.Such was the fate of our gallant u14 girls against a battling Kilcummin side.Having worked hard and shown no mean skill it looked like they would make it to the final whistle but alas in a breakaway last ditch effort Kilcummin snatched the win with a goal. The girls and support were rightly down after the dramatic events but this won’t always be the case as they’re good enough to bounce back.
The u12 girls didn’t enjoy any better luck than their u14 colleagues as they went down to a very good Corca Dhuibhne side. The difference was the West Kerry girls more economical use of possession and a slight age advantage as the Legion side had 14 who are eligible again next year as well as two who have a further two years, which augurs well for the future.
