Heartache but progress for U14s

U14 BOYS
Our U14 boys fell agonisingly short in their quest for an East Kerry double when going down by the bare minimum to our great rivals Dr Crokes in the Park.A strong wind made it a game of 2 halves and it was Crokes who had the benefit of it in the first half and they cashed in with 3 early goals but some solid attacking play saw us half the deficit with a half time score of 3-5 to 1-7.The second half was a slow burner but the game hit a purple patch halfway through the half and it was all square heading down the straight. In the last minutes Dr Crokes got their necks in front and try as we might we couldn’t reel them in.Although defeat was their lot the lads can take great satisfaction out of their years work and the progress they have made. The club is very proud of them and are very thankful to the management team of Donal O Donoghue, John Keane, Tim O Leary,Timmy Joe Fleming and Conor McNiece for their unstinting work and dedication all year.
U12 GIRLS
The U12 girls qualified for the East Kerry League Final thanks to a fine display against Kilcummin in Direen. The carrot of this game was that the winner had home advantage against the loser in the League decider. The first half saw Legion make the most of the wind advantage to lead at half time .With Kilcummin having the wind to their backs they threw the kitchen sink at our girls but a brave and heroic display saw us out winners on a 2-6 to 1-3 scoreline. The Final has been fixed for Monday October 2nd in Direen so here’s hoping that at the time of reading another victory will have been secured.
