U12 GIRLS SAVE BEST TILL LAST

UNDER 12 GIRLS
Having started their training last March the curtain came down on the girls season last weekend in Killorglin. And in the words of coach Selina Looney they saved their best till last.Speaking after their 5-7 to 2-2 East Kerry B Final win over Laune Rangers Selina added “The girls fought hard and never gave up.I told them win, lose or draw we are proud of them, they played the best game of football they ever have done and we couldn’t be happier . Some of these girls we have trained for two years and it is emotional coming to the end of the season , but I couldn’t think of a better way to end it.They came home with not one but two trophies this year .Well done to all the girls that played today , I want to thank ye and yer parents so much for their support “.It topped off a great year for the girls who also picked up a County league title along the way and of course none of this would be possible without the outstanding work of their mentors Selina,Hannah Devlin,Jason Stack and Enda Murphy.Easily one of the busiest and hardest working management teams this year.Well done all round.
MINORS
Our minors played Rathmore this afternoon in the East Kerry Championship. In a tight and competitive first half we struck for a goal and that was the difference between the sides at half time (1-4 to 0-5).In a more free flowing second half sprinkled with some great moves we were just pipped at the post by a point. With the team short a few regulars the other panel members really stood up to the plate and they can take a lot of positives from a high quality performance. They faced Gneeveguilla away on Monday in the “B” Championship semi final.A repeat of this performance would see another competitive game.
Final score
Killarney Legion GAA 2-12
Rathmore G.A.A 2-13

SATURDAY MORNING ACADEMY
Kerry minors Cian Gammell and Sean O Leary of Kilcummin were the guests of honour on the final morning of our Academy. They came armed with the Tom Markham Cup and as an added bonus the Munster and National League trophies were also on display in Direen. And as a lovely gesture from their coaches the U10s who had their last outing in the Academy were presented with a photographic momento of their time with the lads.Well done to Sean Culloty and his dedicated group of coaches who continue to do superb work with the Saturday trainings. And best of luck to our latest graduates who we look forward to seeing progress through the club’s juvenile ranks.
SCOR
The Club were very well represented at the weekend in the Scor na nOg in Killarney Race Course. We took part in the Set dancing, Solo singing and Ballad. They all performed brilliantly with the Ballad group finishing 2nd .Unfortunately only one goes through to County semi finals but they can all be very proud of their efforts.Special thanks to Hannah Majella O Donoghue and Shirley McGough who had given a lot of their
time helping to prepare the contestants and of course Scor Officer Carolann Spellman who coordinates everything in the background.
